My research focuses on empirical and data-driven software engineering, including AI-enabled development, with the goal of improving software quality, reliability, and development practices using real-world data. I welcome motivated Master’s and PhD students who are curious, analytical, and interested in evidence-based research. Typical topics include empirical software engineering, AI/ML applications in software engineering, and software analytics. For both Master’s and PhD students, I expect prospective candidates to come with initial ideas or concrete questions aligned with my research areas, rather than broad statements such as “AI and software engineering.” This helps ensure a good fit and a productive supervision process. For PhD applicants not applying to a predefined position, this expectation is essential.
